Engineering Mastermind: Devising a Career Development Plan to achieve Engineering Career Success

The purpose of this Engineering Mastermind Session is to provide support and mentorship to engineers and technicians who are struggling to define their career goals and develop a SMART career plan. 

What is a Mastermind Session?

A Mastermind session is a peer-to-peer mentoring group used to help members solve their problems with input and advice from the other group members. 

What is the Palucraft Engineering Mastermind Session?

The Engineering Mastermind is a peer-to-peer mentoring session specifically targeted at Engineers and Technicians wishing to advance an engineering career within the Mining, Manufacturing, and Construction industries.

How is the Palucraft Engineering Mastermind Session conducted?

1. Palucraft lead facilitator will introduce the career planning theoretical background and the many challenges experienced by Engineers and Technicians when it comes to career planning and the lack of mentors.

2. The lead facilitator or guest speaker will present some plausible solutions to the problems. The answers then form the foundation for further discussion with the group. Finally, tools and resources will be provided to the group to help devise their career goals and plans.

3. Individual group members will be allowed to present their career goals. The lead facilitator will then challenge their career goals to test if the goal is Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic, and Time-based (SMART). Furthermore, the facilitator will challenge the group on setting stretch career goals.

4. Individual group members will be allowed to present their career plans. The lead facilitator will then challenge their career plans to test if they are SMART and set stretch goals. During the discussion, other group members may provide input on their own experience and how they have done it differently and still achieved their plans.

5. The rest of the group will benefit from observing the best and worst ways of setting SMART career goals and plans. The group will obtain tools to devise their own SMART career goals and plans.
