GCC Factories Subjects

Take a deep dive into the subjects, syllabus, and knowledge areas required to obtain the GCC Factories in South Africa.

Context is everything

A mechanical or electrical engineering qualification that covers the plant engineering syllabus is required to qualify to write the GCC Factories exams.

The Department of Employment and Labour has GCC Factories subject requirements for Engineers (route 1), Technicians & Technologists (Route 2), and Artisans (Route 3).

Bachelors Degree (Engineers)

Route 1 is for candidates who have a Bachelor's Degree (e.g., BEng, BSc, BIng, etc.) in mechanical or electrical engineering from a University recognised by the Commission of Examiners.

In general, SAQA-registered and ECSA-accredited bachelor's degrees meet the criteria.
