The purpose of this qualification is to prepare a learner to operate as a Quality Manager. Quality Managers plan, organise, direct, control, and coordinate quality activities to ensure stated quality requirements and objectives are met within an organisation.

This qualification has been designed to address the shortage of suitably qualified quality managers in the production as well as the services environment. The qualification establishes a standard for uniformity and consistency in training staff employed in various industries.

This qualification has been designed to address the shortage of suitably qualified quality managers in the production as well as the services environment. This qualification establishes a South African standard for uniformity and consistency in the training of staff employed in various industries.
Quality Managers are employed across all sectors of industry, services, parastatals and government departments. Experienced managers and people working in the quality environment requiring a formal qualification, will benefit from this qualification.
The structure of the qualification provides for learning at a quality assurer level (structured as a part qualification) and progresses to the level of the operational quality management level. It forms the next steppingstone in the learning path which started as quality inspector, progressing to quality controller and then entering this qualification of which the exit points prepare learners for employment as quality assurers and eventually quality managers. This qualification contributes to national initiatives in terms of increasing competitiveness, creation of jobs, exports, and entrepreneurship development.
This occupational qualification responds to a specific need in the South African labour market to provide a standard for the development of persons employed as quality assurers, quality managers and entrepreneurs in the quality industry. This promotion of a culture of quality is in line with international initiatives.
Customers will receive quality products and services and thereby improve the competitiveness of the country. By offering consistency and uniformity in the practice of quality through a recognised qualification, the learners will be more employable.

The theory will be presented in the form of on-demand videos, Monday to Friday. The student will need 2.5 to 3.5 hours to go through the content.
Live online group sessions will be held fortnightly. The classes are usually evening classes starting from 6 PM to 9 PM but can be scheduled on other agree times. The purpose of the online group sessions is to summarise the content, explain the assessments, and take on any questions from students.
Students will then complete the assessments on the assessment booklets provided to them.
After completion of theoretical sessions, the student will need to complete the practical work and ensuring they complete the logbooks and assessments. Summative assessment will be completed by the students.
The student will then submit their portfolio of evidence after completion of all assessments.
Palucraft will then complete the assessment and moderation after which we will submit our recommendations to the SETA.
The SETA will do their audits and final outcomes.
If successful, the student will receive their qualification.
1. Instructions & Memorandum of Assessment
1.1 Classroom: Formative Learner Workbook Questionnaires/ Activities
These activities will be completed during the classroom or facilitation session and can be found in the learning material. Activities may include questioning, case studies, group activities and assignments.
1.2 Classroom: Formative Assessment Instrument
These knowledge based questions will be based on the outcomes and Unit Standards addressed in this module. This component will consist of both direct and multi-choice questions. You are required answer all the questions provided as this will also form part of your portfolio of evidence.
2. Assessment Section 2:
2.1 Summative Knowledge Assessment
You are required to complete the knowledge assessment by answering all the questions provided in filled giving examples where asked.
2.2 Workplace Assignments
This section will consist of Workplace assignments and projects which you will need to complete which will form part of your Portfolio of Evidence.
2.3 Summative Practical / Observational Assessment
The practical / observational assessment will be completed by the assessor based on your performance against the outcomes of this module to determine your competence.
2.4 Personal Narrative
The personal narrative requires you to reflect on the reflexive competence requirements needed to be deemed competent in this module. This section will include critical cross field outcomes.
2.5 Witness Testimony
The witness testimony consists of a testimonial based on your performance as observed / reviewed by your Supervisor / Manager in the workplace.
Employers may choose to structure the skills intervention as follows:
Category A (Bursary or scholarship) - Employer sponsors the fees and gives support to employee to complete the workplace practicals. Employer can claim the full amount of the bursary and a stipend, but not the salary, linked to the bursary.
Category B (Internships) - The employer may choose to structure the skills intervention as an internship. The organisation can claim the full expenditure as well as the salary or stipend of an intern. The internship must form part of an institution-based theoretical instruction programme that results in a Degree, Diploma or Certificate.
Category D (Learnerships or Apprenticeships) - The skills intervention can be structured as an occupational directed instructional and work-based learning programmes that require a formal contract. Organisations can claim all expenditure as well as the salary or stipend of the Learner.
Category E (Work integrated learning) - The skills intervention can be structured as an occupationally directed instructional work-based learning programme that does not require a formal contract. Organisations can claim total expenditure, excluding the salary of the Learner.
Furthermore, the employer may apply for discretional funds from the relevant SETA.
